A little over a year ago, WRR writer Wade Davis reviewed the EP of a 19 year-old, almost completely unknown artist by the name of Wonder Years, who was easily comparable to acts such as Pretty Lights and Gramatik in production but incredibly unique in the style of that production.Fast-forward a year, and the now-renamed (due to some copyright issues) artist Marvel Years has made incredible leaps and bounds; another EP, a crazy amount of singles and remixes, and his grand gem of 2013, an official remix of “Where I’m Trying To Go” off of Pretty Lights’ Grammy-nominated album, A Color Map of the Sun. I would say Marvel Years is on the right path to success.
Today we feature the latest from this young, talented producer, with the track “On My Side”. One of the things I really love about Marvel Years is that his production is so crisp, which is clearly evident on this track. It’s got a slow hip-hop beat, coupled by some great cuts of guitar and soul & hip-hop samples. With warm weather ahead of us (for most of us in the United States, anyways) this track is a perfect accompaniment. Check it out below and give us your thoughts.
