It seems like we don’t see much hype about music videos anymore, let alone dubstep music videos. But in a refreshing change of pace, and to celebrate reaching 1 million streams on Spotify, Mersiv surprises us with a new music video for his banger, “Beautiful & Filthy”, on the Wakaan Youtube channel.
Anderson Gallegos, the beauty and brains behind Mersiv, has been hypnotizing crowds with his unique, dark, and raw sounds since 2017, although his introduction to music started years earlier when he began producing in 2013. A relocation to Colorado in 2016 gave him the opportunity to work on his music full time which sparked the Mersiv sound project the following year. He lists many heavy hitters as his influences, like Deadmau5, Liquid Stranger, G Jones, Adventure Club, Flux Pavillion, Zeds Dead, and handfuls more.
The concept for the video is simple yet fun, as it features Gallegos and Chill Bobby – the track vocalist – cruisin’ and groovin’ through a monochrome neighborhood. They soon gather a group of homies, injecting them with bass and bursts of color, to join them as they dance their way through the streets. It also includes a fluffy dog and a guy who was probably just told to ‘dance with the umbrella’ so we give it a 10/10!
In typical Mersiv fashion, the video was announced late last night on social media with very little warning. Since the release of his Paradise EP in September, we’ve been hit with “Osmosis“, “Hypnos“, “Dia de los Muertos“, and “Bermuda’s Triangle” (our personal favorite) all within a matter of weeks between October and November and with little to no promotion. If Mersiv’s goal is to keep us on our toes and surprise us like Santa Claus on Christmas morning…it’s working. We can’t wait to see what this talent will do next!
