We told you that Nicky Romero pumped Protocol Records into the mainstream with his electro house set at EZOO and now his collaboration with Calvin Harris is finally available. Harris’ support for Romero’s is noted given that Iron is the first track where he provided the vocals, but did not take part in its actual production. The track expands beyond the assumed electro drops into a deeper anthemic sound made memorable by Calvin Harris.
Numerous producers have trended in this direction, going away from ‘traditional’ designs and instead choosing to fuse elements of electronic dance music and vocal pop sounds. It’s too early to label this a genre, but tracks like Zedd’s Spectrum, Porter Robinson’s Language or Madeon’s The City are powerful anthems capable of soliciting emotional responses from listeners. Add Iron to the list.
