The three day Outside Lands Music Festival takes place August 9th -11th at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, California. The lineup is mixed between the different genres of music today, but will appeal to the collective hipster nature of the bay area. Outside Lands 2013 will be headlined by Paul McCartney, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nine Inch Nails and Phoenix.
Electronic artists include; Kaskade, Pretty Lights, A-Trak, Zedd and Dillon Francis. All of these artists are solid representatives of dance music culture and better suited than some of the more now pop driven EDM acts that we’re used to seeing at the top of lineups.
Outside Lands is a non-camping festival, so if you’re going you should consider staying at a friends house, booking a hotel or finding a place on Airbnb.
If you’re hosting a music festival in San Francisco, the real headliners might be the food (sorry Pasquale). If you get tired of Outside Land you can visit either Beerland or Wineland. Seriously.
For 2013 the food and beverages caterers include; Wise Sons Deli, Tacolicioust, American Grilled Cheese Kitchen, Three Twins Ice Cream, Bacon Bacon, Del Popolo, and Hapa S.F.
A major problem that I have with Ultra and Electric Zoo is that there’s definitely a lack of bacon.
Outside Lands Tickets
These are expensive, but again it’s San Francisco so you should have already been prepared for that. General admission for three days is $249.95 and VIP is $545.95. Like American Airlines they add on the fees too with parking passes going for $195 and shuttle access at $39. There should be ample transportation options, so you’re probably better off winging it.
VIP Tickets include:
- Exclusive Polo Club w/ shade, lounge seating, activities and massage services
- Viewing Areas at the Lands End and Twin Peaks stages
- Special restroom facilities
- Access to special VIP food concessions
- Access to beer, wine and spirits services
- Commemorative Poster and more!

If you’re having trouble paying for festival tickets, you might want to try a few of these options out.
Overall, Outside Lands looks like a great festival and if you’re trying to go to one that’s not full on electronic this is a great option. However if you’re not on the West Coast you may want to look at Lollapalooza or Governors Ball.
