Love is blind, and that reality cuts deep, but Ricardo Villalobos is here to heal the wound.
Sampling Marvin Gaye’s ‘Ain’t That Peculiar’, Villalobos exhibits a modern interpretation of an iconic track in this week’s throwback. The newly redefined tempo plays with Gaye’s lyrics, and creates a new appeal by combining Marvin’s heartache with Villalobos’s own flawless production. Each progression emphasizes different aspects of Gaye’s original work which in turn makes for a surprising revival of the song. ‘Peculiar’ was released on Ricardo Villalobos’ label, Sei es Drum, in 2014.
Villalobos is a Chilean-born German producer who is regarded as one of the most talented and well known artist in the underground minimal / microhouse scene. He’s played at famous venues and festivals around the world and his quirky demeanor along with his tasteful track selection make him one of the most esteemed bookings in the game– and that’s an understatement. Villalobos is sure to enhance any listening experience, so be sure to catch him this month through October if a trip to Europe is on the schedule. (dates)
