Sometimes, in a digital world like ours, the worst thing about finding “new” music is the disappointment one feels inside for not knowing about it sooner. Fear not friends, for although you may not have heard this right when it came out, Djebali’s track “Seven Blessings” will make up for lost time.
Before we go on, let’s take a moment to press play and pronounce this French producer’s name correctly; Say it with me now–”jeh-bah-lee” not DJ Bali. Good? OK!
“Seven Blessings” came off Djebali’s first full length album, coined simply as 5, on his self-titled record label in November of 2016. He had been producing sonic sounds for over 10 years on 12” records when he finally decided that this time around would be different. Djebali put out a whopping 13 track album spread over three 12 inch records. Needless to say, an incredible feet reached by an incredible artist.
In its entirety, 5 showcases Djebali’s range of sound and production skill where each track exhibits new combinations of sound and structure. “Seven Blessings” specifically takes on a more minimal techno role fused with enchanting house grooves.
