DJs using remotebox on the iPad/iPhone/iPod touch are liberated from the booth to interact more, showcase their talents and even let the crowd get involved with choosing tracks.
Why Is This Big News?
I remember Paper Diamond controlling his live set over a year ago through an iPad. Although it was a bit awkward to see for the first time, looking back, it gave him the ability to be more dynamic and interactive with the crowd. Not sure what platform he was using but I imagine it’s similar when considering “technical sexiness”.
Appeal:
- Cuts Down on Bulk
- Less Wires
- Shorter Set-up
- Ease of Use
- Tech Friendly
In terms of innovation and technology, the XDJ-R1 will inevitably make it’s presence known over time. Wireless iOS control for DJ’s is the kind of development that defines the future – creating a new standard for the product engineers competing within the market. Next move is _________?
We lost the vinyl purists a long time ago. There’s something to be said for Pioneer DJ, head of the technology forefront during this industry’s most valuable era to date. Don’t be surprised when you start seeing iPhones running the trap (particularly in local scenes), we told ya so. Updates to come.
