Porter Robinson’s forthcoming album “Worlds” has been hugely anticipated since news of its inception first came to light. Now, months (maybe years) later we are finally getting a taste of what has taken so long to create and it seems it will be well worth the wait.
This beautiful illustrious melody is laced with soft twirling strings and poignant female vocals that coil the listener into a gently moving sea of voices. Ambient and emotive by nature, if this track is a reflection of the rest of his latest album it is a far cry from the Porter Robinson we once knew.
In its initial debut, the track has incited a tidal wave of attention all over social media and media outlets alike. Even the live Oscar Awards broadcast couldn’t impede the incredible response this track would gain. Whether it be positive or negative, its hard to deny the impact “Worlds” is having on the music scene right now with only first premier.
Porter has taken to Twitter to explain his shift in inspiration and it seems as though he’s had a sort of musical epiphany that has allowed him the freedom to write music for himself rather than for the DJs in big city clubs. He is not so much straying from his sound, as we would think, but actually going back to his true sound – a kind of music that plays from the heart.
