While it may not be shocking to many, sources say that Hardwell will be named the World’s #1 DJ in the annual DJ Mag Top 100 Poll. The official announcement is expected on October 19th.
In a red carpet interview with Tiesto on October 18, 2013, the mega star DJ says he’s 100% sure that Hardwell will be the new number one DJ.
According to Dash Berlin’s website (last year’s #7 DJ), Armin van Buuren has already come to accept that he’s giving up his number one spot to Hardwell.
Secretly I’m very unfortunate. Everybody wants to be the best… I can still call myself number two after I have been number one five times. The music develops further, there will be new talent. And I’m especially proud that the new number one is a Dutchman.
In addition to two of the world’s top DJ’s essentially letting the cat out of the bag, the writing has been on the wall on Hardwell’s Facebook page. Several hours ago he posted the photo you see at the top of the article in addition to this status:
Robbert Hardwell has accelerated to the top arguably faster than any DJ that’s preceded him. He has the unique makeup of a top producer, live-mixer, and has the innate charisma to provide electric jolts into massive crowds he performs for.
Just a year and a half ago at Ultra Music Festival 2012, he was given a 3pm performance slot on a blistering hot day and now he’s on the verge of being the undisputed close-out DJ for festivals he’s involved in for the next few years. At just 25 years old, we can only expect bigger things to come from Hardwell.
