As we get closer and closer to our favorite Florida festival: EDCO Nov 12-14th, 2021, we are zooming in on all the EDC things and bringing you the latest on everything you need to know to experience the ultimate weekend under the electric sky.
When prepping for a festival, most fest heads know what to consider: the lineup, transportation, accommodations, the rave fit, everything needed to enjoy a few days of music, dance, and festie besties. What’s cool about Electric Daisy Carnival is that they actually offer a list of their own very important things that every raver needs to know about before attending any Insomniac event and it’s called the “Headliners Handbook”. A special EDC guide to being the ultimate “Headliner” in life and especially at an Insomniac event. Let’s dive into this headfirst.
1. ALWAYS BE A HEADLINER
“The Headliner connection is constant. Say hello to the person dancing next to you, give high-fives and good vibes, and keep it going beyond the festival gates.” This one is SO important! Studies show random hello’s and spreading of good vibes is the ultimate recipe for a happy soul. Well, we aren’t sure if that’s an actual study but it sure does sound good, right? After all, the feeling of connectedness is one of the benefits of being at a festival at that moment, something no one else is experiencing but you. Take advantage of that moment, it’s good for you!
2. SPREAD LOVE
“While each Insomniac event has its own identity, one thing always remains the same—the presence of our Headliners. By staying true to our core beliefs, we hope to inspire and unite our community, wherever we are.” Love is one of the most powerful and inspirational emotions out there. Coming straight from the heart, spreading love can instantly make someone’s day. AND, in spite of being really powerful, it’s really easy to share/spread the love around and takes you almost nothing.
3. RESPECT THE SPACE
“Take care of your environment, and it will take care of you. Pick up that stray piece of trash. Recycle that bottle. Do your part to keep things beautiful.” PLEASE respect mother earth. We are so fortunate to get to spend time on this beautiful planet but at the end of the day, it isn’t ours. We need to respect it as if it was grandma’s home.
4. IGNITE POSITIVITY
“Our events are rooted in positivity. We encourage you to amplify your energy and share it with those around you. You create the vibe.” Just like spreading love, spreading positivity is just as important. Spread it like the glitter on your face. Everywhere.
5. EMBRACE THE TRUE YOU
“We aspire to create safe, judgment-free spaces where you can celebrate your individuality. However you choose to express yourself, just be you.” YASSS honey, it’s your time to shine. Being at an Insomanic event you really feel like you are stepping into your REAL WORLD. The one where all social requirements of you are muted. You can be free and yourself 100% of the time.
6. CARE FOR ONE ANOTHER
“We all play a role in creating a safe and healthy environment. Look out for your friends, welcome your neighbors, and be courteous to the locals who help make each event happen.” Be the rave mom. Ask your friends (and new friends) if they need water, ask them if they need a hug, and if you see them by themselves, ask them if they want to join your crew.
7. BE OPEN TO EXPERIENCE
“Seek, discover, and participate in the unimaginable. Explore new music, and make new friends. Be present, and welcome the unexpected.” Some of the best artists that are headlining today started off at the smallest stage at 2 pm in the afternoon on a Sunday. Pick a DJ you’ve never heard of and go to that set!
8. KEEP THE BEAT GOING
“From old-school heads to first-time ravers, this community spans generations. Whether it’s your third or your thirty-third event, share the advice you’ve gathered.” Share your space and knowledge of the festival scene with all and you are sure to have the ultimate time.
