This past weekend at Summer Sonic Festival in in Tokyo, Japan, attendees were blown away with a surprise collaboration track entitled “A Light That Never Comes” by none other than Steve Aoki and Linkin Park. This unusual combination was unleashed during Aoki’s set on the “Sonic Stage” when he had a late time beginning at 10PM. Aoki blasted the crowd with classics like “Turbulence” and “Warp 1.9”, but towards the end of his set, suddenly Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda and Chester Bennington walked onto stage, having played a set with Linkin Park earlier that day.
This version of “A Light That Never Comes” features Steve Aoki’s production with the two vocalists from Linkin Park giving it a very emotional vibe. The song is very different from what we’re used to from Aoki- instead of being a classic-Aoki banger, the song is more radio-ready and contains a bit mellower use of production. It certainly is still upbeat, though, and had this crowd going as Shinoda shouted “Jump, jump, jump!”.
Shinoda has hinted on Twitter that the full collaboration with be unlocked via the Linkin Park “Recharge” Facebook game. We’ll keep you posted when the full release comes out.
Steve Aoki seems to be a collaborating with everyone nowadays…did you know he’s going on tour with Waka Flocka Flame?
