Just last month Calgary based DJ and producer, Stickybuds, released a fresh new single from his soon-to-be-released, full-length album “Take A Stand.” It was the first taste of what was to come in the near future as he has now just dropped the second single off the record , “The Firestarter,” and it has us counting down the days till July 20th when the full release hits. The track showcases the Canadian legend’s refreshing take on the funky sound he has trademarked but also proves that he is all for venturing out and trying new things. Taking a step away from the electronic-funk, Stickybuds has created a nearly four-minute, bass-heavy, drum n’ bass anthem that we know you’ll be hearing on the dance floor at festivals everywhere. Vocals were provided by reggae artist, Blackout JA, who previously appeared on “All Blazin” back in 2011.
From the groovy depths of Western Canada, Tyler Martens, better known as Stickybuds has been touring the world for over a decade performing at music festivals such as Electric Forest, Glastonbury, Breakfest, Envision, Burning Man, and Shambhala. Although he may not be the biggest name in the game, his hard work in the studio does not go unrecognized. Just last year his collaboration with K + Lab, titled “Clap Ya Hands Now,” was featured in Sony Pictures’ “Spider-Man: Homecoming” movie trailer and has currently accumulated over 250k streams on Spotify and Apple Music combined. The track also spent 10 months in the #1 spot on Beatport as their top selling glitch-hop song.
