Harlem-born rap icon, A$AP Rocky, is no stranger to the dance music community, having released a striking collaboration with Skrillex last year. In great contrast with “Wild For The Night”, A$AP has joined forces with none other than electronic music legend Gesaffelstein for a much less boisterous tune, entitled “In Distress”. This collaborative track is an interesting coalescence of styles, with A$AP’s poignant lyrical delivery fusing effortlessly with Gesaffelstein’s signature arrangement of dark sounds and synths, constituting a refreshing, yet sinister atmosphere around the tune.
Although many fans found this pair of collaborators to be a bit unexpected when the track was first announced, the artists’ individual styles do not clash dissonantly in any way, despite the fact that they are both undoubtedly so diverse. This track definitely does not disappoint, and it will also be featured on the soundtrack for the highly anticipated science-fiction film, Divergent, alongside new original tracks and remixes from noteworthy producers such as Zedd, Pretty Lights, and Skrillex.
