Iconic Canadian progressive-house producer, Deadmau5, has been the subject of much talk amongst the electronic music community as of late, with his highly-anticipated, and long-awaited album being scheduled to drop in just around three weeks (June 17th). Cleverly titled While (1<2), which is programming code for “to loop indefinitely”, the tracklist was finally revealed, and the album became available for preorder on iTunes almost one week ago, with keen fans who preordered having received his single “Avaritia” immediately. This past Friday, an exclusive Zane Lowe interview with the man under the Mau5head, as well as another striking tune off the album by the name of “Seeya” (which features the smooth vocals of Colleen D’Agostino) were broadcast on BBC Radio 1, undoubtedly heightening the buzz around this upcoming release.
“Seeya”, which Deadmau5 divulged in the interview to have stemmed from something that he’d had around for a while, will definitely be received by fans as slightly atypical of his signature style, with Joel [Deadmau5], himself, even delineating the track as “a bit of a departure” from the expected, calling it a “funky upbeat thing” and a “fun little head-bopper”. This track, which builds fresh, and vibrant grooving melodies to complement Colleen’s effervescent vocals, is a clear demonstration of Joel’s versatility, as well as proficiency as a producer and sound engineer.
While (1<2) can be preordered here, and in addition to “Avaritia”, “Seeya” will become available to preordering fans for download starting tomorrow, May 27th.
