With their release of ‘Ghetto Funk,’ Italian trio Sunstars have introduced us to a new track and a new sub-genre of music. ‘Ghetto Funk,’ out now via Protocol Recordings, has a driving beat and a strong bassline, and has seen significant play this summer from Protocol labelhead Nicky Romero.
Sunstars first arrived on the dance music scene in 2014, and have had a number of successful releases such as ‘The Blitz,’ ‘Reckless,’ and a remix of Benny Benassi’s ‘Let This Last Forever.’ ‘Ghetto Funk’ is their first single release with Protocol, though their track ‘Flames’ was released as part of the label’s 2016 compilation.
‘Ghetto Funk’ has just the right amount of heaviness to help us transition away from the tropical beats of summertime and into something a little thicker. Sunstars have two more releases planned for this year. Guaranteed that by the end of 2017 these relative newcomers will be much more of a household name.
