With development having first begun in 2006, the earliest prototype of one of these “Sustainable Dance Floors” was installed at Club WATT in Rotterdam in 2008. The idea took off swiftly, and after having been installed in over 69 different cities since 2012, this technology will now be used in various contexts outside of a club setting. These “Sustainable Energy Floors” will soon be installed Russian railway stations in order to generate enough electricity to power busy parts of the city, which will help to save a remarkable amount of money in the long run, in addition to promoting an efficient, and sustainable approach to energy production.
Currently, there are approximately 17 locations with permanently installed “Sustainable Dance Floors”, such as Temple Night Club in San Francisco [see video below], in addition to temporary installations at a wide range of functions, including the Amsterdam Dance Event.
