Exactly two weeks later the aftermath of the horrific SXSW drunk driving accident is still being felt as a fourth fatality has been confirmed.18-year old DeAndre Tatum died today from injuries sustained during the crash.
Tatum and his girlfriend Curtisha Davis were rushed to the hospital after an intoxicated driver swerved around a festival barricade and into a crowd of pedestrians. Davis was released from the hospital March 18 after suffering a broken neck. Tatum was still in critical condition at the time.
Tatum is the youngest victim to perish due to the accident, following the deaths of Sandy Le, 26, Jamie West, 27, and Massive Music’s Steven Craenmehr, 35.
Accused perpetrator Rashad Owens, 21, was charged with two counts of capital murder last week and is awaiting trial. Police say Owens blood alcohol content was .114 at the time of his arrest, far exceeding the Texas legal limit of .08.
