In 2016, Rain Man (aka Kris Trindl, founder of Krewella) and singer/songwriter Oly (aka Lianna Sylvan) released a single via Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak. This collaboration proved itself to be an instant success, with the single making the top four on the Billboard’s Top 40 Dance/Mix Play chart. Following the positive response, the two knew that they wanted to create more. From there, the electronic music duo known as Xaia emerged in 2019. Since this convergence, the two have released three killer singles, all independent. This time, Xaia is switching things up and coming to Lowly for their next big hit.
Recently released via Lowly, Xaia has unveiled their two-track EP, Rain Man x Oly. Both tracks offer a completely different mood and vibe, making this pairing more than perfect to keep listeners on their toes and engaged in the dynamic themes.
“Ride My Bike” is a painfully relatable track where Oly yearns to live in a daydream. Rather than dealing with the stresses of money, relationships, and work, it would be much easier to just relax and ride your bike all day. She wrote the tune while riding her bike through the neighborhood, and Kris produced the chill soundscapes with an extra pop rock flair.
“Something In The Air” is up next. It’s a sexy, trap-style dance song with bouncy, contagious melodies. Oly’s sultury vocals express how she wants to party all night with someone she loves. Contrary to the last single, this song’s creation started as an instrumental and lyrics were added afterwards, pulling inspiration from an old poem Oly wrote.
