Amidst these recent days of succumbing to the sweltering heat of summer’s inception, a wave of fiery new techno tracks have been unleashed to make our nights even hotter and heavier. In our latest edition of On Tuesdays We Techno, we’ve selected five of our most recent favorites equipped to effortlessly teleport you to a time when you could spend the season spiraling down the rabbit hole on the dancefloor well past sunrise.
We begin with the indomitable Victor Ruiz’s “Senses” off of his second Drumcode EP Freedom. With a driving, euphoric beat that exudes an understated touch of Detroit soul, this one will send feel-good shockwaves to your entire system.
Enticing our senses in every which way possible is the rising Polish-born Paris-based artist GIGÉE with her tempting “Last Journey To Valhalla.” As part of her impressive four-tracker Lullaby EP on Berlin label mobilee, it’s deep, melodic, and exudes an ethereal darkness that will lead you into temptation.
We then move on from a subdued state to a fast-paced celestial circuit with Raxon’s “Orbit” off of his two-tracker Orbit Connection. This is the Egyptian-born artist’s first Drumcode EP and it’s a fine one. Although the opener “Connection” turned heads the quickest after Adam Beyer’s girls broke out into dancing to this track during the second Drumcode Indoors stream last month, “Orbit” hits the soul differently. It offers a crunchier and more percussive tone, with rich melodic chords sprouting from the darkness to cast some color into the mix. We heart it hard.
Coming in blazing with acidic techno goodness is rising Scottish producer Calvin Logue with “Control,” part of his two-tracker debut Resonance EP on Heldeep Records. A juddering bass and thudding kicks provide the foundation for this track, while dramatic percussive hits cut through the darkness.
Finally, Ren Ascutt takes us home with his almighty “Confuso,” part of his Far Away EP on Reload Black Label. It’s a proper peak-time performer and one of our new go-to tracks to party hard—wherever that may be— this summer.
