2010 was an amazing year for electronic music. The US scene was still in its infancy, and current juggernauts like Skrillex, Excision and Datsik had only been producing for a handful of years. New artists and new sounds were cropping up almost daily, and Doctor P’s remix of English synthpop band Fenech-Soler’s song Lies is a perfect example. With an energetic, oscillating synth lead and an atmosperic bassline, this song cannot be discribed with any adjective other than beautiful. Fenech-Soler’s emotional vocals are the icing on this musical cake. They just don’t make songs like this anymore.
