Earlier this year we witnessed Avicii’s House For Hunger, in which $1 million in gig fees were contributed to Feeding America. In March, at Miami Music Week, the Dutch took victory over the Swedes in the first DJ Soccer Game organized by the legend himself, Tiesto. An interesting and remarkable aspect of this game (besides watching our favorite artists’ athletic talents) was that all equipment, from the jerseys to the ball, was auctioned off. Proceeds benefited (RED), a Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria.
DJ’s like Tiesto and Avicii are using their influences in a pay-it-forward manner. Tiesto didn’t end his collaboration with (RED) in Miami. On November 19th, he proudly announced his full involvement with (RED), and he is bringing along his friends Avicii, Diplo, Sander van Doorn, and a few others, to join him in the fight against AIDS. You can already catch Tijs tweeting about his campaign and posting some pictures in the studio with Bono of U2.
Tiesto has put a whole new meaning to “Dance For Life”, as he is currently putting together the album, DANCE (RED) SAVE LIVES, expected to release November 27, 2012 (tomorrow). It’s truly incredible to watch some of the biggest names in dance music unite to help put an end to disease. You can also catch a live stream of his set from Stereosonic via YouTube (also posted above) on December 1st in honor of National Aids Day. DJ’s are doing their part to help the non-profit community, so listen to the king and ‘Dance For Life’.
