Ultra Music Festival was as profound as the hype, hands down. The only argument I will entertain about Ultra are those, mostly West Coast based music fans, who said the lineup has not evolved enough to encompass the trends of electronic music currently into the lineup – with that said – the lineup for Ultra was still stellar. Some people don’t understand that Ultra is a global brand that entertains a global audience; people buy tickets who want to see Swanky Tunes and Hardwell, period. Yet, in 2017 the festival also brought Justice, Ice Cube, Cypress Hill, Gryffin, and so many more that don’t, at all, represent this stereotype that some push of Ultra.
With that aside, time to get into the good stuff.
The pairing of Miami and Ultra Music Festival has been a tradition that has gone on for decades, the two truly work an harmony. Miami is such a stellar, beautiful place with a rich, uplifting, light color scheme that warms the soul. Ultra has the same heart-warming vibes, the festival is sprawled out on the gounds, palm tries align with sky as you cruise around the spacious yet contained space that Ultra Music Festival is within.
The stages were amazing, from the live stage, mainstage, world stage, and beyond. Each one has it’s owe unique attributes while simultaniously blowing your mind with proper visuals per artists. Each stage had it’s own life force that attracted a certain type of fan. Bass, tech, house, ect. Saying there was something for everybody would be an understatement.
Overall (besides the downstairs bathroom area), the festival was really clean, there were cleaning crews everywhere sweeping up anything that hit the ground, in a hurry. There were a ton of vendors selling a large variety of things, pretty normal at festivals, but none the less something you expect to see done well, which is was. Bayfront Park, as mentioned above, was great at well. Stages were not too far apart at all, so exaustion from walking was not a worry, the stages were strategically placed where once you get to your artist’s set, a slope, hill, or wall would prevent soundbleed from occuring, major plus on that front.Regarding shows, at Ultra you get the best of the best when it comes to sets. Unlike sets that I heard at Miami Music Week, live screw ups moments were basically non-exsistant and the delivery was top tier. Some personal favorites were Slushii, Justice, Barclay Crenshaw, Galantis, and Cypress Hill.

The moments captured at Ultra are unforgettable, there are so many happy, smiling people bustling all around you, at the end of the night they pour out into the downtown streets with smiles on their faces, the area becoming swarmed with dance music loving fans pumped up from the festival – everyone is in their own world but the same world at the same time. Would do this event every year if I could and highly recommend people try it at least once.
