UPDATE DECEMBER 12, 2012: The first acts for Ultra Europe were announced today, and though this is the festival’s first time in Croatia, the lineup will definitely cover all of the EDM bases. Avicii, Armin van Buuren, and Carl Cox and friends will lead the way to Split on July 12 and 13. Tickets for UMF Europe are now on sale for 50 euros. Look out for more updates when the Phase 2 lineup is released!
NOVEMBER 28, 2012: Ultra Worldwide announced today that Ultra Music Festival will expand to the beautiful country of Croatia in the summer of 2013. The festival will occupy Poljud Stadium in the city of Split on July 12 and 13, and then bring the beats to the Hotel Amfora Grand Beach Resort on the island of Hvar.
Ultra has committed to hosting Ultra Europe exclusively in Croatia for the next 5 years, and expects up to 60,000 visits for the premier. They could not have chosen a more picturesque or lively place. Croatia is a destination yet to be discovered by many Americans, but I found during my recent trip there that Europeans and Australians looking for a good time have already claimed Croatia as the capital. The result is an already active electronic music scene with some crazy clubs and festivals, and plenty of boozy boat rides between islands. However, none of these events measure up to Ultra’s magnitude.
While the country typically fills with tourists in summer, the festival is bound to drive traffic like Croatia has never seen before. If you thought Ultra was magical in Miami, just wait until it lands on the coast of the Adriatic.
Phase one of the lineup will be announced December 12 at 12 PM Local Time. For those unable to attend, UMF already has plans in place to stream the event globally via UMF TV and UMF Radio.
