LA duo Satchmode’s “Undertow” features light airy vocals paired with a darker melody, a track that makes you think of underground night clubs, minimal lighting and a loss of inhibitions, but it’s Anden’s recent remix that has us revisiting this track and loving it.
I can sit here and tell you about Anden’s support, what large name producers and DJs have supported their recent track, but there’s something much more interesting to be seen about their latest remix with the addition of new equipment, pushing new boundaries and evolving new techniques to apply to their music, a practice that involves risk and straying away from uniformity to create something refreshing:
We made some studio upgrades earlier this year – among them, we purchased a Korg MS-20. Having a hardware synthesizer in studio has been incredibly inspirational & has made a whole new realm of experimentation possible. With this, we’ve begun to embrace the raw, organic side of electronic music & our sound is evolving the reflect that.
This remix is different than anything we’ve ever done – we couldn’t be more excited to share these new inspirations we’ve discovered. Shoutout to our boys Satchmode for doing a phenomenal job with the original – let us know what you think of the track! -Anden
Keeping the light and smooth vocals used in the original, Anden have taken this deep house track, worked in their signature indie touch and upbeat tempo creating a perfect, in between, genre sound that has listeners up on their feet.
You can check out Anden this Saturday at DC’s popular venue Flash as well as at another NYC popup event, where the duo turn a store front into a nightclub for the evening this upcoming September, date TBA.
