Back for another week with a mix of melodic, ambient, and chill tunes to help get you through the end of the week, or maybe through your hangover tomorrow after Cinco de Mayo. Enjoy.
B!shop- Le’s Get Funked Up (DJ Sensei Shunn Bootleg)
Sensei Shunn from Chicago, IL brings us a smooth disco bootleg from French artist B!shop. This track features piano, guitar plucks as well as bass. The addition of the deep vocal chops gives this track an even deeper G house sound. If you’re looking for an artist who is great at mixing multiple sub genres keep your eye on this one. Between all the instrumentals including heavy sounds of sax this track is sure to have you feeling those chill vibes and at the same time make you want to dance.
Brandon Skeie – So Bad (EDWYNN x TIKAL x Spirix Remix)
Provided by Aux London, fresh from EDWYNN x TIKAL & Spirix comes two new producers to look out for with their remix of Brandon Skeie’s, “So Bad”. The smooth flow of progressions and unknowing burts of bass get lifted up with beautiful vocals as it all comes together perfectly.
Nero – Electric Intercourse (2012 Demo)
Back in 2012, whilst working at paramount studios in LA, we decided to spend a couple of hours recording a cover of one of our favourite Prince songs – Electric Intercourse. We set up a grand piano, some synths, drum pads and a microphone in the live room and laid down the majority of this demo in a couple of takes.
The little known original track was never actually released by Prince and exists only as a live recording from First Avenue in 1983. It says something about the greatness of an artist when such a cool song doesn’t make the grade. Apparently it was destined to be on Purple Rain but Prince thought that he already had too many down tempo songs for the album. Recently he began playing a new version of Electric Intercourse in his live shows.
We thought we’d share this with you and pay homage to one of our absolute heroes and without doubt one of the greatest writers, musicians and performers to have ever lived.
Koresma – Bridges
Discovered this gem via hypem, and it doesn’t disappoint. The simple piano, bells, and soft strums all come together to help you unwind no matter how stressed or frazzled you are, this is the cure. From the artist:
This song was inspired by the idea of how bridges connect people and places. Music is one of the biggest connecting things for us and it brings people together regardless of race, language, culture, beliefs, and beyond.
R.LUM.R – Tell Me
R.LUM.R is the whole package. Great future beat, super strong melody with nice female vocal ambientently put into the background – and flat-out great sounding male vocals to top it off. If there was one song that gave me the most feels this week, it’s this one.
Gold Dash – Feel It Now
“Feel It Now” is sort of a combo of electronic music elements that were popping off in the late 2000’s mixed with sound design and aesthetics sounds of the now. The best part of the Gold Dash original is how the energy level gradual increases but stays within a comfortable range. Gold Dash won’t be leaving my sight anytime soon.
Element – Mind Games
That harp solo tho – seriously. “Mind Games” is our future bass highlight on this week’s Unwind The Mind. Particularly well mixed and mastered, Element’s “Mind Games” has a chill core construction to it, but comes at you with just the right amount of energy in the drop. This is Element’s 3rd release on his SoundCloud, hoping to hear more tunes on his channel before the year ends.
RY X – Deliverance (Fort Romeau Remix)
The London disco making bloke Fort Romeau is back. With a steady and consistent build, rising and falling synths, along with a consistent bass line that keeps the track moving, we can’t wait for Fort Romeau’s forthcoming album Dawn out tomorrow, May 6th.
Confessions – Nothing Compares 2 U
Another beautiful tribute to Prince.
It’s been seven hours and fifteen days…since you took your love away.
Prince left us seven hours and fifteen days ago.
He will be missed. He will be a part of our music and hearts forever. His music helped me through my own breakup, and I made this as a tribute to the love and truth he gave us.
