In under only two years Wakaan has become one of the most innovative and talked about labels in the bass music world. Created by Liquid Stranger summer of 2015, the label celebrates artists who exemplify the same values of experimentation and diversity that the producer has been practicing throughout his career. You never quite know what you’re in for with a Wakaan release, but you can be sure it’ll be like nothing you’ve ever heard before.
The label has released two diverse compilation albums, as well as a several other groundbreaking projects from innovators such as Shlump, Perkulat0r and Yheti . Genres like Dubstep, Trap, House and more are given new life through these adventurous artists who are paving the way for the EDM of the future, while showing a clear appreciation for the history of rave music.
The best thing about Wakaan is that it truly is a tight-knit crew where every member pushes each other to be their best self. Since joining Wakaan veterans producers like Space Jesus, Esseks, Wolf-e-Wolf and Of The Trees have all refined their unique styles, and risen to the top of their game. The synergy of the group can really be felt in their back to back sets, which have at this point become a tradition of sorts since the Rise of Wakaan tour with Liquid Stranger, Space Jesus, and Au5.
To witness the power of the Wakaan collective in action, catch one of their Wakaan Takeovers, which will be popping up all over in 2017. This Friday they invade NYC’s Webster Hall, for which you can find tickets here.
With so much amazing music under their belt already, it will be incredibly interesting to see what Wakaan grace bass lovers with in the years to come. As long as they continue to always push the envelope and trust their inner vision, we will undoubtably see the label leave a legacy that will influence the dance music world forever.
