The Winter Music Conference (WMC), aka the original electronic music destination in Miami every March for over three decades, has confirmed it will be alive and thriving in 2019.
For those of you not as familiar with WMC, here’s a quick rundown:
In 1985, a handful of geniuses created a week-long series of electronic music events in Miami, bringing together dance music lovers and players of all talents and sizes, from all parts of the world. WMC held the title as the leading electronic industry event on earth for nearly 20 years, until its European competitors like the International Music Summit in Ibiza and Amsterdam’s ADE saw massive growth and rise in popularity. It also laid the foundation for the inceptions of both Ultra Music Festival and Miami Music Week to become the global phenomenon’s they are today. In other words, it all started with WMC and we’re more than excited to see it brilliantly forge ahead into a new era.
Earlier this year, news broke of Ultra Worldwide’s acquisition of WMC and International Dance Music Awards. The goal of this partnership was to restore WMC’s status as the world’s premiere dance music industry and networking conference. It might be safe to say the alliance is well on its way to doing just that. Although it is still unknown where Ultra Worldwide’s infamous Ultra Music Festival will claim its new home, WMC is officially locked and loaded. Next year’s edition will talk place March 25-28 in Miami’s Faena District at the acclaimed Faena Forum.
Today, WMC announced many of its initial partners, including technology news and media network The Verge, Grammy.com/The Recording Academy and its charity MusiCares, Mixmag who will host their popular live “Lab” event from the Faena rooftop, Billboard Dance, Data Transmission, Attack Magazine, EDM.com, DJ Mag Asia, Belgium, France, Latin America, Switzerland and UK, and Magnetic Magazine.
