Born from two musicians, Zedd started his music career at the age of four by playing drums and piano. In the year 2002, Zedd started playing for the Dioramic German Band, signed by the Lifeforce records. His interest in electronic music production was peaked after hearing of Justice, the French electronic duo. He started electronic production of music in 2009. His real name is Anton Zaslavski.
Music Production
Zedd is a German-Russian DJ and electronic music producer, specializing in the production of dubstep, complextro, progressive house and electro house. He has produced various originals and remixes. He announced his entry into the music scene by winning two separate Beatport remix contests. His debut original mix “The Anthem” broke into the Beatport Electro Top 20. His Remix of “Scary Monsters and Nice Spirits” by Skrillex broke into Top 10 in BeatPort Electro. Zedd has from then produced remixes of well know international artists like the Skrillex, Lady Gaga, Black Eyed Peas and other musicians. He utilizes Cubase suit application of music production in the creation of his music. He also capitalizes on plug-ins such as Kontakt Sampler, Nexus and Omnisphere, and Sylenth 1.
His remixes of “Born This Way” and “Marry The Night” were featured on the special edition of Lady Gaga’s album Born This Way in 2011. In September 2012, his single “Shave It Up” appeared as the 30 second teaser on the YouTube page of Skrillex, hence marking his first release on OWSLA Records. Zedd signed with Interscope Records in 2012, subsequently releasing the single “Spectrum” using vocals provided by Mathew Koma. He followed this by producing a remix of Eva Simons’ “I Don’t Like You” that was released through Interscope. Other music he has produced includes “Beauty and Beat”, a collaboration with Max Martin for the album Believe.
Zedd is also featured for “Beats”, a commercial advertisement by Dr. Dre together with other musicians. Currently he is concentrating in the production of the upcoming Lady Gaga album called ARTPOP.
