This summer Transylvania is definitely the place to party. After hosting names like Duke Dumont, Deadmau5, Zedd, Franz Ferdinand and a ton of other amazing artists, Electric Castle Festival is returning in 2018 with a fresh perspective and many surprises. So far the organizers have announced performances from Kriss Kross Amsterdam, San Holo, JP Cooper, Netsky, Damian Marley, Elrow, High Contrast, Nastia, London Grammer and a few others while promising more announcements will follow.
Taking place in the spectacular domain of the Bánffy Castle, near Cluj-Napoca in Romania, Electric Castle’s story began back in 2013 when the fest first debuted. Since then, 5 amazing editions have kept fans on their toes as EC progressed into a break-taking celebration of music in all its forms. The Castle itself was built back in the 15th century, features a lovely lake and enough open space to accommodate both scenes and a campsite.
Carrying a “rainy” tradition of happening during bad weather, last year Electric Castle created The “Rain or Shine” campaign which invited fans to cast their forecast and managed to bring light into 26 houses without electricity.
Since Valentine’s Day can be a bit tricky for those who went through a breakup, Electric Castle decided to help out by creating the “Ban Your Ex” campaign. Ravers had a day’s worth to fill out a form with the name of their ex and the city they’d send them to during this year’s edition of EC. And, oh, boy, fans poured their heart out, with 469 banning requests. We aren’t entirely sure how organizers plan to ban people from the festival or exactly what happens if two people ban each other…but, one thing’s certain: one lucky “banner” will have the chance to experience Electric Castle ‘s 6th edition with a VIP pass.
With big names already on the line-up, more to be announced and (maybe) the chance to not meet our ex on the dance floor, we are eagerly waiting for the Electric Castle’s 6th edition, which will take place on 18-22 July.
