Dance music master OPIUO is bringing the grooves full force with the release of his latest EP Syzygy 01. The 5 track production is a culmination of Opiuo’s taste for thumping, disco-derived beats that are ripe for clubs and dance-floors – yet dripping with old-school funk flavor.
A master of his craft, OPIUO specializes in crafting genre-bending tracks that are always experimental yet effortlessly his own; and Syzygy 01 is proof that playing with the boundaries of contemporary dance music is always a good idea.
Previous singles ‘Botrok’ – a punchy, classically Opiuo take on industrialized techno – and most recent release ‘Ginger Lizard’ grace the EP alongside three new tracks, ‘Huckaloogee,’ ‘Boogie Latch,’ and ‘Dalmations.’
“I wanted to release a bunch of material in a different form than a straight up album,” says Opiuo. “The record is about doing whatever I want. No rules or the common restrictions I put on myself, like telling a story when doing an album. It includes some super epic recordings I did in New Orleans when I was there late last year. All the music is super varied… fast and slow, banging and mellow.”
