Tim Bergling, better known as Avicii, took to Twitter Saturday (3/29) to explain to fans why he will not play his scheduled set at Ultra Music Festival this weekend. The reason: doctors are performing emergency surgery on the Swede to remove his gallbladder.
From Avicii’s Twitter:
“I’m really sorry but as some of you have already heard, i will not be playing Ultra Festival this Weekend. My fans know that I have had issues in the past with my stomach and pancreatitis… I woke up on Wednesday morning with serious pain but I flew to Miami anyway, hoping that it would go away. The pain was still there when I landed so I went straight to hospital. I was treated and left later that night. Unfortunately, the pain came back yesterday afternoon and I returned to the hospital where they admitted me to stay overnight. My doctors have decided to operate and remove my gall bladder tomorrow morning. It’s a routine procedure and all going well, I expect to be fully recovered and back on my feet in time for my US True Tour.
Thanks for your concern everyone, it means a lot to me!”
Ultra announced that Deadmau5 will be playing in Avicii’s place, closing out the festival’s second day on Saturday night.
Deadmau5 also took to Twitter to confirm his set and to wish Avicii well:
Avicii was not the only DJ/producer to experience health issues in Miami. Afrojack, Stefan from Dada Life and Alex from Hard Rock Sofa were also hospitalized this week. Laidback Luke also had to miss his Ultra set to go to the hospital, but under much happier circumstances: to watch the birth of his son.
All of us here at WhiteRaverRafting.com wish Avicii, Stefan and Alex a speedy recovery. (We were also super glad so see Afrojack out of the hospital and on stage at Ultra during Tiesto’s first-night set.)
