Lowtemp Music continues to dominate the electro-soul horizon, wisely signing another prolific producer. This time it’s Beat Fatigue, the Amsterdam native whose ‘Optimus Jive’ EP dropped yesterday. In layman’s terms it is that fuego.
Following up on February’s release, ‘Ain’t That A Glitch’, each new track has a perfect funky step with loads of low end womps to back it. Saxophone saturates the EP with jazz melodies running along ad infinitum. “That Dude From: Amsterdam, Netherlands” is making confident glitch hop. Playing with the Lowtemp soul groove Beat Fatigue adds a heavy kick and lets the liquid bass flow. Though a dastardly tease with only three songs, this release shows he’s on par with other heavy-hitters from Opiuo to Russ Liquid to Griz. Like many of his fellow-label mates Beat Fatigue incorporates live instrumentation, ripping the guitar on stage and in the EP’s second track, “Straight Up Shuffle”.
Though he’s been making waves (no pun intended, sound engineers) for years now, his partnership with Lowtemp is sure to bring his filthy music to a wider audience. You can catch him at the magical Shambala Music Festival in August, but for everyone’s sake WRR is hoping Beat Fatigue throws down state-side soon.
