The Orange County based duo is back with their new three track EP “Legacy” and it’s the best mixed bag of genres including pop, trap, progressive, future bass, and electro. It’s a lot to unpack but totally worth it. Marty Matamoros and Lance Villa have been playing around and mixing it up since 2012, their tastes expanding over many sub genres. They do this well and are always bringing out something fresh to their listeners to feast on. They’ve received report from some of the heavyweights of EDM like Chuckie, Borgore, Deorro, and Krewella, and they have shown no sign of slowing down.
“Legacy” is an awesome example of their genre blending. “Satellites” features the smooth voice of Paige Faust. Her vocals paired with a pop melody and catchy trap beat makes this a fun dance track. They even throw in a progressive drop with electro bites for good measure. The next track “Calling” takes on a future bass feel. This one is much more beat driven and their build up rewards us with melodic breakdowns. Just like the vocals, echoing their calls to each other, the highs and lows between the rhythms and melody leaves a sense of resonance. The EP is tied off with their last song, “Fallen”. Featuring the voice of Luke Boor, this song has got more of a classic big room vibe. With electro piano teamed with a chill progressive beat, it’ll be sure to bring your friends out on the dance floor with you.
