After leaving Twitter last month, Deadmau5, the iconic Canadian progressive-house producer, has taken to Reddit to give fans an update about the new subscription service that he currently has in the works. Jokingly dubbing the service “Suckscription“, Joel Zimmerman (aka Deadmau5), has been working to create a platform for his fans to receive news updates, watch live streams, download music, as well as post in chat rooms and message boards. There will be a small monthly fee to gain full access to the site, however a free option will also be available, but with limited features.
Deadmau5 revealed to fans via Reddit that the site is almost ready to go live, and can be expected to launch in around a week. He has also managed to keep the fee to a small $4.99 per month, which is in accordance with his promise to fans to keep the price under $5 (read the full post here).
In another post, he informed fans that he is not allowed to put all of his released music up as a free download due to conflicts with previous record labels, however he reassured them that he will be posting a ton of unreleased tunes that they will be able to grab for free.
Last week, Deadmau5 also posted an update on the progress of his upcoming album, and his fall tour:
It is clear that Joel has been incredibly productive over the past few weeks, and I know I’m not alone when I say that I’m very curious to hear what he’s come up with in the studio recently (a 111 bpm track from Deadmau5?!). His fall tour will also be absolutely massive, and will showcase his new stage production which he has been designing for quite some time. Fans have been waiting in eager anticipation for this “Suckscription” service to launch, as Deadmau5 has quite a bold social media presence, and since he left Twitte… our timeline’s just haven’t been the same.
