Up and comer NGHTMRE has been killing the remix game in the electronic-sphere with his uncommon sounds and unique musical direction. Firstly, we love the word play on remixing a song called “Live This Nightmare.” Though nightmare has such a negative connotation, we believe there is an ironic beauty to such a macabre thing, and we have a feeling NGHTMRE thrives on this concept.
Secondly, we adore the fact that it’s a sensual R&B-style jam infused with tech/nu-disco/nu-bass that makes it sound even silkier than the original. The reverb and vocal distortion is on point, and the drop has a bit of vocoder goodness with clean synth progression. The distortions are never messy, and are placed right where they need to be. We also like that he pays a lot of attention to the lyrics of the songs he remixes.
There’s a lot of forlorn lost love, the nightmares of the world and oneself, and a viewpoint of the darker side in his songs, and it gives his songs a substantial layer of meaning.
