Damnnnn Daniel. We have a lot of choices for you via this week’s Unwind the Mind. Deep house, tech house, future bass, indie vibes, and so much more fall within this week’s playlist as we continue to capture a growing scene. Dive in below.
Disco Fries – Day by Day ft. Katt Rose
I love a good pop song that you don’t have to think about, it just feels right. “Day by Day ft. Katt Rose” is this type of sound plus so much more. Disco Fries’s single is perfect mood for the super hot summer vibes we are feeling right now, it makes you forget the heat and enjoy the moment. Disco Fries have been giving us house gems for many years now, it’s great to see artists with longevity in the scene can still keep their production well on point.
Texas Drew – You (feat. Dani Rae Vaughn)
Texas Drew has laced this single with one of the dopest twists on future bass I have heard in a while. The complimentary voice of Dani Rae Vaughn completely the picture, spawning a strong indie / indie-rock hybrid that’s left a mark on me 100%. “You (feat. Dani Rae Vaughn)” leaves new Texas Drew fans wondering what is next.
The Potbelleez – Horny ft. Zoë Badwi (Ryan Riback)
Now this is my jam. The lyrics are a bit goofy, but direct and definitely express something that millions of people can relate with, haha. Ryan Riback takes the original, which is very much a brand new release, and turns it into a chill, slow process that grabs and pulls you into a place that’s you’ll want to revisit again and again. Shoutout to The Potbelleez and Zoë Badwi for making this EP a possibility.
PEGA5U5 – Temporary Love feat. Cellojoe
I love this simple, all-over-the-place chill trap sound that’s been catching on. Guys like PEGA5U5 and Chet Porter are pushing the limit on this new wave – but PEGA5U5 really has something different going. The live drum solo ending here really blew my mind. PEGA5U5 seems to have a variety of influences from across the board. If there’s only one artist you remember when you walk away from this list, let it be PEGA5U5.
Element – Can’t Have You (ft. Eileen Young)
Has this track hit the radio yet? Because it should. Element and Eileen Young have that infectious spark that everyone should look out for. This Hasley / Chainsmokers / Foxes radio sound that’s been taking off can be hard to nail properly, but “Can’t Have You (ft. Eileen Young)” delivers and delivers well. Element is expected to pick up momentum after this success begins to climb to it’s peak.
Era Istrefi – Bonbon (Marshmello Remix)
A man who needs no introduction has released a new remix on none other than Ultra Records itself. I get the feeling that “Bonbon (Marshmello Remix)” is the beginning of a new chapter for Marshmello, the tune is an evolutionary adjustment of Marshmello’s classic dirty 4 chord-bassline and falsetto piercing melody style that captured the scene by storm only a few short months ago.
Tom Bull ft Bianca – Take It All (Original Mix)
Tom Bull continues to ride a wave of success via his solid house releases. Earlier this year, Tom Bull was featured on New Music Friday, a handful of hype blogs, and the rest is history. “Take It All (Original Mix)” is a sick extension of what we have begun to love from Tom.
Xavier Dunn – Straight On Till Morning
A combination of everything comes from the producer, singer and songwriter Xavier Dunn. Featuring his own soft vocals this track is a gorgeous mix of indie, pop and electronic. Encase your mind in an easy tune sure to nab you in the feels and encompass every emotion known to man.
Manila Killa – Youth ft. Satica (k?d Remix)
It’s comments like “really like how that synth came up from a filter and turned into a bass line to fill everything up. sounds awesome” that begins to give a glimpse of the level of impact k?d is having on the scene. With a mysterious feeling similar to Zhu, k?d has been an attention grabber like no other right now. He’s taken his identity to the next level via pairing himself with Moving Castle on this remix. The future is looking bright here.
Pegboard Nerds and Grabbitz – All Alone (Anden Remix)
Formerly known as You&Me, Anden returns with a sold out show aboard Bounce Boat in NYC with Sander Van Doorn and an official remix to Monstercat’s Pegboard Nerds and Grabbitz “All Alone”. What normally is hard synthy bass sounds from Pegboards is flipped by Anden into a more mellow beat with everything from techno to trance. The sped up vocals and toned down bass gives this track an emotional feel while keeping the elements known from Pegboard Nerds in tact. This track just skims the surface between our Unwind the Mind and Powerful Picks – the perfect in between.
