Tons of amazing tracks have made their away onto the internet and injected life into our ears and brains. As we head toward the end of summer, the releases just don’t slow down. From semi-heavy future bass to ambient experiences, this week’s Unwind The Mind features a handful of tunes we couldn’t put away this week.
Jerry Folk – Stanley ft. Tommellie & WoodzSTHLM
Prepare yourself. The one and only Jerry Folk has dropped another one, something many have been craving for some time now. It was “Oh Wonder – Lose It (Jerry Folk Remix)” that put Jerry on the map, but the many releases post-‘Lose It’ is what has reeled in a huge core fan group that will stay as long as Jerry keep’s churning out a world of sounds that’s easy to identify with.
The Chainsmokers – Closer
The Chainsmokers are the hottest mainstream dance music artists of the year, hands down. There tunes have been remixed a zillion times – which is why I think Alex and Drew decided to make this one more simple and a bit minimal. The tune is absolutely catchy, but it seems the duo intentionally left some “open space” to entice the continuation of artists remixing their music. Whatever the reason, the legend continues.
Charlie Puth – We Don’t Talk Anymore (feat. Selena Gomez) (DROELOE Remix)
Here is a solid pop remix to brighten up your life. From the first beat, the experience becomes a unique balance of curious as to what is coming next, while being well satisfied in the moment. I love the use of live percussion sounds here. DROELOE is a refreshing sound in a world too saturated with future bass and chill. DROELOE does it right.
Popeska – I Believe
At this point, my favorite aspect of the new Popeska is easily the surprises. Each track sounds different from each other. “I Believe” conveys this emotion that’s come from a different place within him. Between his gold releases and honesty with his fans, Popeska stands out and is more than a little interesting. His tracks are very personal, there isn’t a line between him and the music, it feels as one.
Annabel Jones – Happy (k?d Remix)
It’s as if k?d can do no wrong. k?d takes future bass and turns it into one of the most energetic sounds I’ve heard all year. The mysterious DJ turns Annabel Jones’s “Happy” into something truly beautiful again. Creating an all-around masterpiece of an experience that will blow the minds of almost any dance music fans. 60K in a day says alot. k?d is becoming one of the hottest acts of the summer.
SIYYU – Stop Us
Comprised of unknown producers SIYYU has recently gone international and while we might not know who they are, we do know this track is perfect for cooling off with the recent heatwave that’s taken over most of the country. While labeled deep house, this track also reminds us of a tropical paradise. The vocals are light and airy surrounded by a climactic drum line and piano. This groovy track is a breath of fresh, and cool, air.
medasin – daydream (ft. JOBA)
medasin has a strong following with an audience who is diverse as his sounds. “daydream (ft. JOBA)” goes even chiller than expected. Using steel drums and xylophones to amplify a signature sound that few cam imitate. Retro vibes and ambient modern vibes unify in “daydream (ft. JOBA)”.
POLO – RKCB – Elevated (POLO Remix)
Easily, my favorite part of this release is how production reall makes you feel this “waiting until the last minute” feeling with the drop. As if you’re standing on the edge, in suspense of the next moment that comes – 100% a good pop journey that can be difficult to capture properly for some, but not POLO.
