Feel good pop, dark deep house, tech house fused with tropical house; a little bit of everything is dotted within this week’s Unwind The Mind. Electronic music shows no sign of slowing down, in fact only continues to expand, multiply, cross-breed, and evolve. Enjoy some chill tunes from around the electronic music spectrum via artists from around the world.
Whynnel – You Knew
The soft cut up feel of the passing melodies and distorted, scratchy instruments is the common thread that gives Whynnel’s new EP Omnipresence it’s own feel. Released on Heroic Records, the 2-track EP is a cerebral introverted paradise delivering slow moving sounds and tranquil, almost-mystical branding for added reference. Whynnel has captured a nice little niche full of originality.
Sun City Castaway feat. Yeo
Sun City’s “Castaway feat. Yeo” is a sun-kissed chill house track for fans ranging from Autograph to Spinnin’ Deep. I was instantly mentally transported to shining scenes of Miami pool parties, relaxing vibes, and smiling faces. “Castaway feat. Yeo” puts together all the right elements of anytime music: party, r&r, sleeping, hanging with friends – “Castaway feat. Yeo” would fit it all and has rich discoverability to be found with each passing listen.
B O B B Y N O U R M A N D – D E E P in N Y (feat. D.O.C. & Goodmorning)
B O B B Y N O U R M A N D has many sides to him, my initial introduction to him was his complete transformation of oldies into the deep house experiences. With “D E E P in N Y (feat. D.O.C. & Goodmorning,)” the solo DJ keeps the deep house style, but shows his original colors, dishing out a melodic hip-hop tune that goes one deeper in serious, sophisticated, and somewhat dark manner. B O B B Y N O U R M A N D has made a dope balance of having relevant direction while simultaneously being able to showcase strong dynamism.
Para Doc – Be True (feat. Ace Cosgrove & SUMif)
“Be True (feat. Ace Cosgrove & SUMif)” is one of the most innovative tunes on the list. Para Doc, Ace Cosgrove, and SUMif take on a super chill instrumental, but layer it with some outspoken, energetic hip-hop verses that make you think about what you are actually hearing. Para Doc, Ace Cosgrove, and SUMif reach across the genre isle with “Be True”.
Luna Aura “Madhouse” (Adam Kahati Remix)
Occasionally we receive submissions from RaverRafter readers, many producers can recall making music in their bedrooms looking for anyone who would listen or a way to receive feedback. NYC local Adam Kahati has shared his recent remix with us that boasts Luna’s smooth vocals and a promising chord progression. Though the track displays a simple melody, we definitely see the potential and Adam creates an easy track to chill out with.
PANG! feat. Cameron Douglas – Cigarette
“The Swedish Project PANG! is back, and this time sitting by a campfire with friends, enjoying a “Cigarette.” With gentle guitar strums and smooth vocals by Cameron Douglas, it’s sure to pair perfectly with your pumpkin picking road trip this fall, PSL included.”
Basic Tape – So Good (feat. Danny Shah)
“So Good (feat. Danny Shah)” is one of the poppiest and uplifting release on this week’s list.” The title and chorus fit the charming vibe of the tune so brilliantly. Great pop music is much more of a extroverted feeling than a introverted message to be dissected and pondered, it seems clear Basic Tape were very in tune with the core theme and feel of the track as it developed and truly decorated this cake the way it was calling to be, nice job on this one!
RAMBO V – Rincón
“Rincón” is a true hybrid house track, RAMBO V fixates tech house, 80’s influenced synths, and a tropical feel to create a hypnotic original that will have you lose you worries and sense of time. “Rincón’s” bridge is where the magic hits you and you notice the tune has captured your attention more so than the average track. As the second drop approaches, the energy picks up and the chord progression diversifies. The tension and release pattern here is beautiful, on point, and completes this track as a significant piece that stands out.
