It’s been a busy week but the good tunes rolled through. From the unexpected to trendy sound we have grown to love. We have singles from around the chill dance music spectrum to start your weekend off right. Peep some of our recent favorites below.
Lostboycrow – Stay a Little Longer
“Stay a Little Longer” is a super infectious chill house / pop release that grabs your attention from the first few moments. According to the group, “Stay a Little Longer” “was written from the standpoint of being in the middle of an intimate and familiar relationship that is at the point of being tested to either fall apart in the flames of a short romance, or slowly dance in the burn of resolution.” If I was within that type of tribulation in my life, this song would easily fill my mood with that bittersweet feeling, a sad-happy feeling that music can sometimes deliver. Lostboycrow has had the chance to play SchoolNight LA, headline Neon Gold’s Popshop West at The Echo, and do a long tour with indie songstress, VERITÉ. The act is on an incline, to say the least.
Pluto x Ye. – Feel The Fire
Pluto and Ye. are easily one of the most popular rising artists on this list. “Feel The Fire” chews up trendy sounds the world knows and loves, but spits them out in a highly creative, super catchy way that’s almost hard to put into words – it just feels right. Pluto and Ye. both have nearly a million plays between them, most of the gained in the last half of 2016. These guys are the complete package and make one hell of a team. Rumor has it sick remixes are set to come as well.
Justice Skolnik – You Could Be Down
Those arpeggio’s tho. Sounds like a Microkorg XL I used to own. What’s there not to like about Justice Skolnik’s “You Could Be Down”? From the sound design, arrangement, vocal sample, mixing and mastering. slurred melody in the drop – “You Could Be Down” hits the bullseye on all fronts. Justice Skolnik can certainly stand on his own for the long term, he’s done official remixes for major labels, has landed in RTT’s Too Future Thursday’s playlist, and has several shows now under his belt. “You Could Be Down” is one of those tracks that’s simple, graceful, and you just want to hear it again and again.
The Chainsmokers – All We Know ft. Phoebe Ryan (LUCA LUSH LIFT)
Mind Cntrl – I’m In Your House
“I’m In Your House” contains influences of Miami bass, deep house, and tech house, with low-toned vocals and hypnotic hi-hats combined with a trippy monotone melody. Mind Cntrl is the perfect name for an artist who makes this type of music, “I’m In Your House” is a perfect turn up song in any type of house set, offering a different, experimental vibe to make the night extra weird. Mind Cntrl is playing live frequently, check out his Facebook for more info about upcoming shows.
Kultur – Unravel (Ft. Jessel Alejo)
Kultur is no new name to the scene of chill music. This time he’s teamed up with Nowadays Records to release his upcoming EP. Teasing us with the single “Unraveled” is bold, and we’re thankful for that. The production is strong, as always and it flows seemlessly.
elkkle – Don’t Look Down
‘Don’t Look Down” is an stand alone tune that takes you on a journey. elkkle’s single makes it easy to tune in, but tune out the world. The gradual experience is full of experimental house sounds that always seem to be on-tempo – while having random new sounds pop up – is a hypnotic effect that’s very appealing. Based in Melborne, elkkle plan to release another single before year’s end. If it’s anything like “Don’t Look Down”, I’m all ears.
DROELOE – Wake the Warrior
“Wake the Warrior” is an experimental future bass tune that is sort of a friendly-spooky sound. DROELOE is one of the most outsanding on the list, with a drop that’s all it own, dark, but chill. The future bass parts in the second half create an unforgettable juxtaposition that truly pulls either parts of the tune together as a nice little masterpiece. The Netherlands duo DROELOE have been putting out hit after hit, seems like they have another one on their hands.
