Lots of poppy stuff came my way this week, all of it delivering a satisfying dose of relaxing, chill out vibes that’s hard not to love. Enjoy what we have been passing around internally below, featuring new music from AObeats, Khamsin & LeMarquis, Nebbra, and flybear.
ID – FKNU
Had a friend share this release with me, lots of mystery shrouded around it for sure, but the quality is there. We don’t know the artist here yet, but “FKNU” is packed with love and amazing vocals. XXX either seems to be a temporary space for this song to be teased or a new label in it’s beginnings. At this point, there is a nice niche dying to know more about this.
Benta – Lover In Dark (AObeats Remix)
That dark bass though.. “Lover In Dark (AObeats Remix)” slides in there with a drop that doesn’t try to wow you with intensity, but surprise the mind with a simplistic, but on point, drop – delivering the perfect balance of mystery and indie pop all in one single. AObeats is one of those guys who has been there since the beginning of the r&b / chill electronic movement that started in 2014. The dude has been focusing on these sounds for quite some time “Lover In Dark (AObeats Remix)” is a more innovative, advanced twist on popular chill sounds that everyone is trying to do these days.
Khamsin & LeMarquis – Leaving (feat. Saavan)
“Leaving (feat. Saavan)” has a melancholy vibe from the first moment you hear it. Khamsin & LeMarquis have tapped into something super chill with this one. The two have paired some nice imagery with the release, sharing “Chapter 1, « Leaving » marks the beginning of the trip. A boat trip to unknown lands. A start, which leaves the passengers stateless, hanged to an uncertain future.” in the description. Without a doubt, this addition strengthens the experience of this single. Stoked to hear Chapter 2.
Nebbra – Gladiator
Nebbra, a solo artist based in Paris, France, who built his career on outstanding, highly supported remixes, has balanced things out with his new EP You. Obviously, the big question here was can Nebbra make originals on his own, You EP proves this many times over. “Gladiator” being my favorite out of the list, a hybrid of sorts, pulling some of the best elements out of the 2016 Quix-type trap movement and trendy elements within 2016 future bass scene. Nebbra has solidified himself as more than just a good remixer.
flybear – Lies
Wow, “Lies” by flybear gets right into it. It’s eastern themed intro leads to a beautiful, pure feeling chorus in no time at all. This is the second single flybear has teased off his EP, and it is a doozy, to say the least. Actually, not too many go for the specific sound, though it has been done before – yet, what flybear has done with it is the epitome of the sound and style, at least that I have heard. Cannot wait for this EP.
