The year is ending but great music is not. SoundCloud is still bursting at the seams with music looking for listeners. Unwind The Mind is here to slice through the flood, picking out a handful of tunes that stand out to us. From future bass, to chill ambient, to some unexplainable sounds that are simply electronic, if it’s relaxing, new, and inspiring, it could be here. Dive into what he have chosen this week below.
FØRD – Oblivion (feat. Rya Park)
The wind-up music box percussion blended with proper electronic-meets-indie is a undeniable combination, created by FØRD, entitled “Oblivion (feat. Rya Park)”. The energy level pretty much stays within a comfortable range, the peak being found in the drop. From New South Wales, Australia, FØRD has topped Triple J #1 and also secure a spot on Spotify’s New Music Friday list, a hard feat to achieve on both ends by any means. “Oblivion (feat. Rya Park)” is where it’s at.
KRNE x SAINTS – Numb
“Numb” is easily the biggest hit on this list, with a sound you could pick out of a crowd. KRNE and SAINTS are clearly a match made in heaven, focusing on future bass sounds that aren’t new, but some how putting them in an order that’s unbelievably refreshing and highly infectious. KRNE and SAINTS are entering a realm where they can seemingly do no wrong right now.
Sigala – Only One (Radio Edit)
I am a sucker for upbeat, catchy pop, “Only One (Radio Edit)” does an amazing job of capturing an uplifting sun-kissed vibe without sounding generic at all. From start to finish, this song fills you with get-shit-done energy that’s unforgettable. Sigala has 5 global hits he’s locked in in less than a year, more than 2.5 million sales, over 700 million online streams, as well as almost 310 million combined video views to date, this UK native is on fire to say the least.
Whethan – Savage (feat. Flux Pavilion & MAX)
I group Whethen with other top future bass successes like KRNE and Stelouse, and he deserves it. Hit after hit, Whethan continues to deliver and doesn’t accept anything below the bar. “Savage (feat. Flux Pavilion & MAX)” is one of the best indie-electronic originals I have heard all fall. Whethen shares a bit about his latest original here: “This demo really spoke to the direction my sound is heading. I knew I could take it to the next level, and once MAX and Josh (Flux) put their hands on it, we knew we had something Savage.” Whethan is also on tour, check is Facbook page to see if any dates are near you.
Konstantin – Release Yourself (feat. Ayla Shatz) [ye. rmx]
Konstantin is a hit in Europe and is making his way over to America, there isn’t many better ways to do so than by having one of the hottest rising artists of the year take over your tune. ye. throws a more subtable and almost-quiet vibe within the Konstantin original “Release Yourself (feat. Ayla Shatz)”. Simply put, there’s alot to love here. It’s fits right into the 2016 theme we have all been hearing, but has forwarding-thinking production value within.
Steve James – In My Head (ft. RKCB) ~Kwon Flip~
Steve James remixes have been a dime a dozen these days, but Kwon does this one justice and this some. “In My Head (ft. RKCB) ~Kwon Flip~” flows well, the overall feeling of the original is certainly enhanced, the vocals seemly popping out more so than the original. Based out of DC, Kwon has excellent song choice on the tunes he remixes, “In My Head (ft. RKCB)” is another wise choice added to the list.
