Had more tracks come my way this week than any time this year. Feels like everyone is trying to get their releases out before festival season is in full swing, which means more awesome songs for us! Sounds from all across the spectrum came my way this week, enjoy the diverse sounds below with the thread of chill being the connecting element between them.
Cage the Elephant – Shake Me Down (Opvs & ye. Remix)
ye. is a producing machine, he continues to make edgy releases with each one being positively different and catchy than the previous, his latest being a collaboration remix with Opvs of the hit group Cage The Elephant. The four-chord style remix hits nicely on the drop with beautiful sound design and fantastic rhythm. Clearly, Opvs & ye. were a match that was meant to happen, becuase “Shake Me Down (Opvs & ye. Remix)” is a gem.
Kidswaste – Wild (feat. Khai)
Kidswaste has always had a chill vibe about him “Wild (feat. Khai)” is the perfect balance of future electronic elements, indie instruments, and folk vocals. The way that dance music is evolving is unprecedented and amazing to watch right now. “Wild (feat. Khai)” is a good example of the exciting change that’s currently in motion.
Two Friends ft. Cosmos & Creature – Out Of Love
Two Friends seem to have no shortage of releases in 2017. Their latest being a collaboration with Cosmos & Creature. The single has the classic pseudo pop-punk influenced instrumental background that Two Friends is known for, the twist with this one is the super-feel-good drop that brings back the sax as well. Word on the street is a sick heavy rock cover of this song may be floating around YouTube soon, keep an eye out.
Least of Creatures – Candlelight
The fast growing label Heroic is featuring a new artist this week, Least of Creatures, for good reason too, the single encompasses the introverted, chill vibe that Heroic is, in part, known for. Yet “Candlelight” also continues this dramatic, spiritual element delivered by the piano keys and soft, sustained background sounds. Least of Creatures was a good catch to say the least.
Marc Vedo Feat Kylie Auldist – Ride Of Your Life (Radio Edit)
“Ride Of Your Life” is full of positive suprises as each moment passes. The most outstanding part of this single has to be the vocals of Kylie Auldist and the bold piano work that always seems to come in at the right moment. “Ride Of Your Life” is one of those singles that can change the mood of your day with just one listen.
it’s different – Will You I Will (feat. HVNNIBVL)
“Will You I Will (feat. HVNNIBVL)” makes you listen twice to comprehend what was just heard. it’s different continues to impress by delivering songs that are actually memorable due to it’s distinctive production elements found from start to finish. Can’t wait to see how it’s different flourishes in 2017, the group has strong potential to say the least.
Savoy – Say No More
Savoy’s “Say No More” is one of the most experimental releases on this week’s list. The rock-meets electronic duo have a highly unique miche that they continue to grow. “Say No More” is one of my favorite releases yet and taps into all the right sweet spots a strong single should. The duo is also very much known for their live perfeormance, which contains many strong live elements including live instruments, an amazing light show, and more.
Truth x Lies – City Lights
The SoundCloud channel that was a part of and an influence to the tropical house movement is making a comeback, releasing new singles on the channel once again. Their latest one being of the group Truth x Lies. “City Lights” take the popular future house genre and adds a layer of darkness to it, with vocal samples eerly coming and going. This single is multi-faceted, as it could be properly enjoyed on the beach or a club evironment. Truth x Lies are on their way up.
TastyTreat – Fallin’ In Love
TastyTreat is an underrated artist in the future scene. The guy produces gems that are easily enjoyed again and again and always contain production aspects that wow it’s audience. “Fallin’ In Love” is a continuation of this type of vibe, with strong arrangement, design, and most importantly the spirit of the single is strong and present. This dude knows how to make tracks.
Sun City – In My Skin Again
If it wasn’t for the perfected sound design, mixing, and mastering, this single wouldn’t be nearly as good as it is. “In My Skin Again” is perfect ear candy gold, showcasing elements of classic house and deep house, with an overall modern feel found throughout the song. Sun City is noticeably attractive and easy going as well, boasting an element of branding that strengthens the experience of the listen.
