This week delivered an usually large amount of awesome feeling releases. Recent, popular songs plucked from the continuously growing and diversifying chill electronic world we’ve all come to know. Enjoy.
J A S H – Summer Time Love (Nick Peters Remix)
The brand new label known as Into The Wild Records has locked into some amazing sounds in the chill house world. A sweet spot that mixes deep house, chill house, and disco together. The direction of “J A S H – Summer Time Love (Nick Peters Remix)” is a soothing, colorful addition to the sound the label has been teasing. Can’t wait to hear more.
R.LUM.R – Frustrated
“Frustrated” gets it right in so many areas, it could be a dope new addition to the newly trending electronic music sounds that have hit the mainstream market. The voice and beat go so well together, but also act as a refreshing juxtaposition throughout. R.LUM.R hit the bullseye with this one, keep your eye on him.
Xavier White – Cancer vs. Gemini
There are few forms of hip-hop that appeal to me, given the saturation of the scene right now. Xavier White is truly serving up original and real meanings in “Cancer vs. Gemini”. The experience is very diverse and raw – it just feels right. The release focuses on love, but via the story told like you’ve never heard before.
Kayliox – Ocean (feat. A-SHO)
Tropical channel turned diverse chill house label Tipsy Tortoise continues to deliver on a solid selection of beach-ready songs. “Ocean (feat. A-SHO)” is a dramatic ballad, sort of a progressive house sounding track dressed in an edgy chill house sound. If that was the idea with “Ocean (feat. A-SHO)” then mission accomplished – it works well. A-SHO voices proves as one that stands out from a crowd – very distinct and chill.
MYRNE & Dirty Chocolate – Intermission (ft. JJ)
Beware, this is two dope artists on one outstanding label Daruma + MYRNE + Dirty Chocolate. MYRNE shared his perspective on the song “Of the making of the collaboration, MYRNE says “I was always a fan of highenergy beats, so linking up and working with Dirty Chocolate’s refined, chillout sound was a pleasant surprise. Collaborations are all the more interesting if the producers are worlds of music apart.” Alot of genres are cross breeding on this one, listen at least twice to considerably peal away the elements that make “Intermission (ft. JJ)” great. Check out more from all three parties.
Sander Vandoorn, Martin Garrix, DVBBS (ft.Aleesia) – Goldskies (Dreadhauk Remix)
This is definitely the heaviest chill track on this list, but “Goldskies (Dreadhauk Remix)” just isn’t a banger. The slurred style and big room sound conveys that wall-of-sound concept that takes over the brain, but then dials you out with its deep house melodies. The combination is super clubby and highly unique simultaneously.
ARONA MANE – Never Can Say Goodbye
I’m a sucker for Jackson 5 sounds starting out. With an explosive vocal sample choice and some wonderful nerdy electronic disco vibes, “Never Can Say Goodbye” is a mood-raiser. “Never Can Say Goodbye” has brilliance, creativity, and fun that radiates from the music, making him an infectious producer hard not to love.
Manila Killa – Youth (Feat. Satica)
Groovy and dreamy, Manila Killa is back with a smooth and sexy track. With the vocals of Satica, “Youth” starts off with some tropical vibes and then morphs and builds into emotional synth build. We’ve seen a lot of great remixes by Manial Killa that include Bearson, Caribou, and The M Machine, but his originals have that extra heart, and in this one is shows.
Seven Lions – Cusp (Just A Tune X Last Heroes Flip)
Seven Lions doesn’t adhere to just one genre, and with his track “Cusp” that was featured on Armin van Buuren’s “Who’s Afraid of 138?” we continue to be impressed with his flexibility. However what impressed us even more was how Just A Tune X Last Heroes were able to take a trance hit, and then morph it back into a chill step sound that’s smooth as butter, and very reminiscent of the style of some of Seven Lions’ tracks. Whether by purpose or not, it’s a great flip, and we’re digging it.
Illenium – Sleepwalker (Virtu Remix)
Virtu has been having an amazing few years. With being EDC Las Vegas’ 2012 Discovery Project winner and releasing multiple great remixes and growing his fan base. Today he’s back by remixing Illenium’s “Sleepwalker” by which he explains how he chose the song:
When choosing what song to remix from Illenium’s Ashes album, “Sleepwalker” stuck out significantly to me for two reasons. The first being that it’s obviously a stellar piece of music with a great vocal from Joni Fatora. The second reason is that I’ve coincidentally had several sleepwalking incidents over the past six months or so. It only seemed fitting to me to remix a song called “Sleepwalker” because of this haha! Hope you enjoy it!
A great mix of smooth and electro guitar-synths with builds rising and falling, that’ll have you feeling like you may be sleepwalking yourself.
MAIZE – Remember To Lose (Strange Talk Remix)
Strange Talk brings us a melodic spin on MAIZE’s future bass track “Remember To Lose”. The chilled out remix is packed full of uplifting chords and swift production skills by the Melbourne based duo. MAIZE’s relaxing vocals perfectly accent the slow paced track to create a one of a kind remix. The slow build up leaves you unprepared for the melodic drop that is fused perfectly with some hard hitting claps. If you’re ready to get melodic with Strange Talk, make sure you give their latest remix a listen.
Daft Punk – Doin It Right (k?d Remix)
Putting a completely new twist on one of Daft Punk’s best tracks, k?d brings the future to the dynamic robots who helped pioneer the electronic scene. The classic electro vocals used by Daft Punk are chopped up and perfectly incorporated by k?d to bring back an iconic Daft Punk classic. A mix of bass, powerful chords, and hard hitting drums have us in love with k?d’s latest remix. Bringing us a taste of nostalgia and showing why future bass is on top right now, k?d has outdone himself with this newest release.
DiRTY RADiO – Killin Me 2.0
Lately Dirty Radio has been re vamping many tracks and giving them a club like appeal. Now, infused with electro synths Dirty Radio takes their 2012 single “Killin Me” from their album Cassette and amps up Shaddy’s catchy vocals for a 2.0 version filled with a more upbeat tempo, smooth percussion a couple added drops and more to create a mix between indie, pop and electro. With summer looming just around the corner and the weather heating up this track is an easy listen for a hot summer day or night in the club.
Luzcid – Aquatic Ambience
This rising bass music producer’s first self-release on his new Dream Vault label seeks to show his diversity as an artist. Rather than bombarding the listener with his usual style of grimy bass, Luzcid delivers a more subtle sound, complete with crisp drums, watery melodies, and a fantastic, dream-like progression to boot. This song almost feels like it’s an introduction to a new era of Luzcid, not one that forgets his heavy bass roots, but one in which he dedicates immense thought into the journey the listener will experience. Just imagine what a full album from this guy would sound like….
