Jade Cicada has been a name that has been popping up more and more over the past couple years thanks to his reputation for insane tunes, and even crazier live sets. His new EP, “Byte Evaders”, only continues to cement his status as one of the biggest boundary pushers in the bass scene.
The four track EP is diverse yet incredibly cohesive, always finding the right balance between breathtaking melodies and bone-shattering bass. Right off the bat Cicada shows of his musical ear with the EP’s title track, an uplifting melodic tune that suddenly finds itself in the midst of a wonky bass drop. From there the EP develops into some more dissonant tracks with “Smokin’ Quack” and “Beefcake”, before resolving thing with “King McSwing”, a masterful sonic painting with contribution from Smigonaut.
Jade Cicada is just one of many up and coming producers that are redefining what is possible with today’s advancements in music production. With forward thinkers like him and his peers slaughtering festivals nationwide, we can only hope that this attitude of experimentation and versatility continues influences the producers of tomorrow.
