Florida EDM fans have been eagerly awaiting the EDC Orlando lineup, in large part because the festival is less than a month away and Insomniac has remained tight-lipped about potential performers.
But many took to social media today, thrilled that an EDC Orlando Twitter account (with 4,000 followers) said Hardwell, Armin Van Buuren and Kaskade would appear at the Nov. 8-9 festival.
This was news to Kaskade, apparently, who tweeted this shortly after @EDC_Orlando said he was confirmed to perform:
Although Kaskade was able to see through the sham, almost 4,000 Twitter followers fell for the fake account. To their defense, it does look pretty legit: lots of official EDC Orlando logos and copyrighted photos grace the page, and it has been active since December 2012.
Hell, even Dash Berlin was convinced:
If Kaskade’s tweet didn’t convince you the page was fake, here are some other questionable selections (Hint: You will never see a legit festival give “shoutouts” to non-related festivals, because they’re competition)
Nice trolling, bro. Let’s just hope Insomniac’s lawyers show you mercy #prayfortheEDCtroll
