Dubstep (or clean dub) meet live instrumentation and the birth child formed from the melodies through the creative collection of artists we know as Conspirator. To say Conspirator took an approach to “dubstep” that we don’t see everyday would be an understatement. Unleashed isn’t old school London garage,it’s not breakout American sound, and it’s not ambient dub either. While at times some strings are mental, the overall essence of the music is controlled in every way.
You won’t find unrelenting bass and in your face synths. “Unleashed” is a landmark for melodic heady bass music. Combined with the aspects of live instruments that we all love, the electronic music project from two member of the Disco Biscuits is completely consistent with the values in which they have always prided themselves upon. Most recognized in the post buildups, where they transition into electrosoul and dnb vibes rather than the generic attitude of “lose yourself” music. ‘Unleashed’ is a gasp of fresh air in the middle of a dubstep scene currently lacking an identity.
My Two Favorite Tracks
- Let’s begin with the remix of The Company We Keep which immediately became my personal favorite and the gem of this EP. Conspirator channeled the Adventure Club ambient dub /lovestep mantra, connecting a serene vocal piece and a relaxed approach to dub. Clean and well-mannered, this remix is one for the ladies.
UNLEASHED changed the stigma behind dubstep
- Tumblr. The most beautiful original creation of the entire album. Chris Michetti (guitar) got his chance to shine and I invite you all, to let it sink in. Mellow dub and contributions from an ensemble of raw influence. Melodies and vibrant pulsating bass. Conspirator has officially revived the loathing lul of contemporary dubstep. Take a moment to appreciate how great music can be.
you will love it
