I have caught wind of Marvel Years peripherally in the past, but this one the first time I gave the man a chance and had an extensive listen. I was elated at the uplifting, powerful atmosphere that is showered across Voyage Ahead Pt. 1. Simply put, it just makes your soul feel good and the atmosphere feel colorful.
Every single across the 5 have a commonality that gives the entire experience a deeper connection, which is centered around this uplifting feeling, but “Where The Bounce At,” was my absolute favorite – a flat-out party starter in a very unintrusive manner. The mixture of electronic elements, funky guitar strums, and a splash of headiness lay the groundwork for the melodic and explosive ‘2-over-3’ polyrhythms that plucks punctually, this effect acting like the drop of the track. It’s something that has to be heard to be fully understood.
With that said, there is a song for everyone across the 5. All of them have that Marvel Years charm and a certain hopeful confidence within which makes the world feel right, even if just for a moment.
There’s tens of thousands out there who feel great about what Marvel Years is doing, which is why he’s going on a cross-country tour in the USA to plant more seeds of this movement.
